Retargeting that brings back the buyers who almost said yes

Most visitors leave without buying — not because they said no, but because they weren’t ready yet. Retargeting is the system that stays usefully present while they decide: segmented audiences, messages that move the sale forward, and frequency caps that keep your brand welcome.

What it is

What is retargeting?

Retargeting (or remarketing) shows ads specifically to people who already engaged with you — visited your site, viewed a product, abandoned a cart, watched a video, messaged your page — across Meta, Google, YouTube and TikTok. Done properly it’s segmented by intent and sequenced by stage, so a cart abandoner sees a different message than a blog reader. It depends entirely on solid tracking, and it multiplies whatever fills the funnel above it.

Who it’s for

Is this for your business?

  • Businesses already paying for traffic and watching most of it leave without converting — the leak retargeting exists to catch.
  • E-commerce stores with abandoned carts and product-view drop-offs that nothing currently follows.
  • Considered-purchase businesses — property, renovation, education, healthcare — where buyers compare for weeks before deciding.
Problems we solve

Sound familiar?

“We pay for the same visitors twice”

Without retargeting you re-buy cold attention and hope the same people wander back. Warm audiences cost less and convert better — it’s the maths of not losing what you already paid for.

“Carts get abandoned, and that’s that”

Cart abandoners are your highest-intent audience. Sequenced reminders — product, proof, objection-handling, then offer if warranted — quietly recover sales every month.

“People say our ads follow them everywhere”

That’s bad retargeting: no caps, no sequencing, no exit rules. We cap frequency, rotate messages, and stop showing ads to people who already bought.

“We retarget ‘all visitors’ with one ad”

One bucket, one message is a blunt instrument. Segments by page depth, recency and action get messages matched to where each person actually stands.

What’s included

The full retargeting system

Audience architecture
Pixel and event audit, segments by behaviour and recency across Meta, Google, YouTube and TikTok, and exclusions for buyers and junk traffic.
Message sequencing
Stage-matched creative: remind, prove, answer objections, then close — with purchase exclusions and burn rules so nothing runs stale.
Cross-platform management
Budgets balanced across networks by performance, caps and windows tuned per platform, weekly optimisation.
Incremental measurement
Reporting that asks the honest question — did retargeting cause these sales, or just claim them? Holdout logic and sanity checks where volume allows.
Our methodology

How we run retargeting differently

Intent decides the message

A pricing-page visitor yesterday and a blog skimmer last month are different conversations. Segmentation is the strategy; the ads are just its voice.

Respect wins the return

Frequency caps, recency windows and buyer exclusions aren’t compliance theatre — discipline keeps the brand welcome, and welcome converts.

Claim only what’s incremental

Retargeting loves taking credit for sales that were coming anyway. We measure against that temptation, so budget flows to real lift.

Feed it or starve

Retargeting multiplies traffic; it can’t create it. We size your pools honestly and tell you when the answer is more fuel, not more remarketing.

Follow-up as a system

MAD Auto Detailing’s 400–500 monthly bookings are built on the principle retargeting automates: nobody who shows interest gets forgotten. The same follow-up discipline that works every WhatsApp enquiry until it answers is what retargeting applies to the visitors who never messaged at all.

FAQ

Questions owners actually ask

Is retargeting worth it for a small site?
Below a few thousand monthly visitors, pools get thin — retargeting still works, but slowly, and platform minimums bite. We’ll size your pools honestly in the first call; sometimes the right answer is to grow traffic first and retarget properly in ninety days.
Won’t people find it creepy?
Bad retargeting is creepy: the same ad, twenty times, for a product you bought last week. Ours is capped, sequenced and excludes converters — most people simply experience a brand that stayed conveniently findable while they decided.
What does retargeting cost?
Management starts from RM2,000/month plus modest ad spend — warm audiences are small, so media budgets run far lighter than cold campaigns. Measured honestly, it’s typically among the highest-return line items in an ad account.
Didn’t iOS privacy changes kill retargeting?
Wounded, not killed. Signal loss is real — which is why we run the Conversions API and server-side signals, lean on first-party events, and use Google’s logged-in reach where browser signals fail. Warm still beats cold; the plumbing just matters more now.
Can we retarget people who messaged us on WhatsApp?
You can re-engage them better than ads can — through the WhatsApp channel itself, which is cheaper and more direct. We coordinate both: ads for anonymous visitors, WhatsApp flows for known contacts, without double-messaging anyone.
How is this different from boosting posts to engaged audiences?
Boosting reuses one blunt audience with one message. A retargeting system is segments, sequences, exclusions, caps and honest measurement across platforms — the difference between an ad that follows and a funnel that closes.
